Installation of Extension Stops: "Unable to read repository"

Issue

The installation of an extension stops with the error message "Unable to read repository at ...." before the signature is checked.

Solution

This error occurs when installing the extension from a remote directory. Please save the installation .zip file to a local directory and try again.
